Re: ACC Championship Game....

I'm an Irish fan, and we are the worst fans of all fans.
But I can see all the UT fans points on this...
Don't get me wrong, I pull for the Hokies every Saturday I make the trip up to Blacksburg... but, they are the #25 ranked team in the nation, and are in a BCS bowl game. It's sad. Plain and simple, it's sad.

Being ranked #25 and being in a BCS bowl shows how sad the system really is. Winning the ACC this year is like winning the Cumberland in football. If you win you get a trophy, but nothing to really be that proud of.

I agree.. because they are a lot of better ranked teams than the ACC teams that are not getting BCS bids..

I feel fairly certain the You Tee fans would be thrilled to be ranked #25. I know Fulmer would have been satisfied. And also employed.

Problem is, if Tennessee or any other SEC team was ranked #25, they wouldn't have been in a BCS Bowl.

Re: ACC Championship Game....

Correct, and actually would have been no were close. They would more than likely end up as the #4, #5, or #6 seed in the conference at that ranking on most seasons and a BCS would never have been in play. Generally speaking, if have 1 loss and no more than 2 a BCS is completely out of the question in the SEC or Big 12.

Why do so many VIRGINIA natives root for a TENNESSEE team anyways ? Just curious . I can see if you live there or grew up there .
Life is a grindstone . Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up , depends on what we are made of .

But they would still have been VERY happy to be #25.

Re: ACC Championship Game....

My whole family was either Bama or UT fans, I chose UT. Went to several games growing up and I was sold the first time I stepped into Neyland Stadium.

Knoxville is just as close as Blacksburg so it isn't a distance thing or a local thing.

And to be completely honest, I didn't know Va Tech had a football team until I was about 12 or 13.

Knoxville is just as close to this area as Blacksburg is. Plus Tennessee has a strong fanbase in this area because of the fact that they have years upon years of football tradition and are only 3 hours away. Tech has only been good the last 15 or so.
